This quote lives on an old laminated dog-eared bookmark in whatever I'm reading. It fell out of a book on my mother's bookshelf as I was clearing her house after she died. Its words sit in a loopy script font over muted old-world “Christopher-Columbassy” nautical maps. She had a thing about old nautical maps which is why I gave it to her years ago, I don't remember clocking the words at the time though. But now, they're at my bedside - with me every day with each new page.
What I love about these words is they transcend all maps and travel and dog ears. To me they're about doing whatever you're doing with all your heart:
If you're going to the supermarket - go with all your heart.
If you're loving - love with all your heart.
If you're doing the washing up - wash with all your heart.
If you're crying - cry with all your heart.
If you're doing the bins - do the bins with all your heart.
If you're feeling rage or sadness or joy or boredom, sitting in traffic or sitting with friends - do it with all your heart.
If you're tasting chocolate or rain or salty chips or salty tears - taste with all your heart.
Cook, clean, live, love, grieve, age, breathe and sail this life with all your heart.
Because... why not?
Wishing you a heart-filled Easter Monday 🐣😊,
Love, Jo x
P.S. Have you ever noticed you can't think with your heart?
