“I just need him to understand that”
“She never listens”
“They don’t respect me”
“He takes me for absolute granted”
“I don’t think they even like me”
“They don’t even care about me”
“You’re not meeting my needs”
“I’m so un-appreciated”
“I need more affection”
Oooh it’s a such a small, burning, human place to be - isn't it. That churning black hole of lack and need and desperate want for love from others. I don’t know if you ever find yourself there? I do. And I thank every god / buddha / shamen / zen master and many a dog-eared book on practicing presence, that I now know a way out.
(I don’t always realise right in time - sometimes I drink the poison with full guzzling gusto and fall flat of my face. But when I employ what I know works it’s a game-changer.)
Here it is:
Whatever you think someone isn’t giving you. Give it to them.
Oooooosh I can hear the screachy egos, nail-on-blackboard high!! YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEK!!!
But try it. Try it, try it!
Because if you’re in this eat-yourself-alive place, it’s because your ego, your thoughts, have taken over and got twisty. And it’s a miserable place and nothing good will come from it – it just makes us smaller and weaker and wrinklier.
Turn it around. Turn it over.
It ain’t easy, I know. You might rather suck raw onions with pins in your eyes but, if you want to feel better, what’s to lose?
Give the praise, the love, the concern, the attention and affection you crave… then watch what happens.
There’s so much to gain.
You don’t even have to tell them what you’re doing 😉
Happy Monday 🙂
Love, Jo x
