When you need a way out...

Try this

musings

We depend on nature not only for our physical survival. We also need nature to show us the way home, the way out of the prison of our own minds.

We got lost in doing, thinking, remembering, anticipating - lost in a maze of complexity and a world of problems.

We have forgotten what rocks, plants, and animals still know.

We have forgotten how to be - to be still, to be ourselves, to be where life is: Here and Now.

Eckhart Tolle, Stillness Speaks

Eckhart teaches that when we come into nature and allow our awareness to rest on a stone, a tree, plant, animal (not think about it but be aware of it), we can become that same stillness.

But who wants to stare at a stone? What's so snazzy about stillness? Haven't we got places to be and people to see and things to worry about?

Well, here's the thing: by becoming this stillness we enter a place of deep rest. We come home to ourselves. And it feels wonderful.

When you're walking, having a cup of tea or just looking out the window, try this:

  1. Stop, be still and notice
  2. Notice the alive stillness of something natural
  3. See how it rests in Being, completely itself
  4. Drop all notion of its name
  5. Feel it

What you're feeling is always there for you - just there under the business, stress, fear or sadness. What you're feeling is your very nature.

Happy Monday 🙂
